ZDNet, a website that I frequented often in college around the turn of the last decade, and again as I've worked in IT for the last few years, is turning 20. Originally a subscription-based service called ZiffNet, available on Compuserve, since 1995 the website has served up tech over the years, through the .com era and beyond.

Check out their fun 20th anniversary page here: http://www.zdnet.com/anniversary?tag=mantle_skin;content

The video they have on that page is a good view, check it out if you like PC history.

Here's a snapshot from the internet archive project from 1997, to travel back in time with zdnet: http://replay.waybackmachine.org/19971212042325/http://www3.zdnet.com/

Does anyone remember ZDTV? I recalled watching this channel on my DirecTV system (back when you could buy a fully functional receiver, card and all, at department stores and activate it via a 1-800 number...that's been a while) back in 2000. During that year, I recall the name changing to TechTV. Pretty cool channel back then, I haven't watched it for years though in it's current incarnation as G4 TV.

Here's to many more years of IT news with ZDNet!
